What is Pilipino Youth Coalition (PYC) Vallejo? Pilipino Youth Coalition (PYC) Vallejo is a youth program of Filipino American Social Services (FASS). Created by FASS in 1997, PYC Vallejo serves as a mechanism to connect the various Pilipino student organizations at local schools in the Greater Napa-Solano County area. PYC Vallejo allows for the sharing of resources between Pilipino student organizations, participation in joint activities related to the Filipino American experience or the Philippines, support for club advisors, faculty and teachers, as well as to provide an outlet for community activism.
PYC Vallejo traces its roots to its predecessor, the Youth Internship Project (YIP). Created by FASS in 1991 as its first youth component, YIP conducted a landmark Filipino youth survey with over 240 respondents. The survey provided the community with insight into Filipino youth issues ranging from substance abuse to sex and gangs.
PYC Vallejo is modelled after Filipino Youth Coalition (FYC) San Jose and PYC Alameda County. We are part of a larger network of PYC's in the Greater Bay Area, including PYC Sacramento & PYC Stockton in the Central Valley. Support PYC http://www.myspace.com/pycvallejo
